1. Who We Are

Good Parent - Co-Parenting Helper ("the App") is operated by Paul Rusiecki ("we," "us," "our"), based in Germany.

2. What Data We Collect

2.1 Account & Device Data

When you open the App for the first time, a unique device token is automatically generated. This token identifies your device within your family group. No email address, username, or password is required to use the App.

We also store your device role (Parent A or Parent B) and the family code used to connect both parents.

2.2 Children's Information

You may voluntarily enter your children's names and dates of birth to manage custody schedules. This information is stored on our servers and shared only with your linked co-parent.

2.3 Location Data

With your explicit permission, the App collects your precise GPS coordinates when you initiate a custody handover. Location data is used solely to document where and when handovers occur. The App does not collect location data in the background or at any other time.

2.4 Photos

With your permission, you may upload photos from your device (e.g., as profile pictures for your children). Photos are stored on our servers and shared only with your co-parent.

2.5 Calendar Events

Events you create within the App (appointments, custody schedules, handover times) are stored on our servers and synchronized between both parents in real time.

2.6 Agreements & Messages

Text content you enter in the agreements section or through the AI message helper is processed to provide App functionality. AI-generated message suggestions are created using Google Gemini (see Section 4).

2.7 Push Notification Tokens

If you enable push notifications, we store the token provided by your device's operating system (Apple Push Notification Service or Firebase Cloud Messaging via Expo) to deliver notifications about schedule changes, handover requests, and event updates.

3. Why We Collect Your Data

We process your data exclusively for the following purposes:

• Custody coordination: Synchronizing schedules, events, and custody status between both parents in real time
• Handover documentation: Recording location, date, and time of custody handovers for your personal records
• Notifications: Informing you about schedule changes, handover requests, and event approvals from your co-parent
• AI message assistance: Generating neutral, child-focused message suggestions (optional feature)
• App functionality: Authenticating your device, maintaining your family group, and ensuring data is shared only with your co-parent

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the App's co-parenting features.

4. Third-Party Services

The App and our website use the following third-party services:

No personal data (names, custody details, location coordinates) is shared with these services, except as specifically noted above.

5. Data Sharing

Your data is shared only with your co-parent within your family group. We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal information with any third party for their own purposes.

We may disclose your data only if:

• Required by applicable law, regulation, or legal process
• Necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users

6. Data Storage & Security

• Server location: Your data is stored on secured servers in Germany.
• Encryption in transit: All data transmission uses encrypted connections (HTTPS for API calls, WSS for real-time WebSocket connections).
• Authentication: Each device receives a unique, randomly generated token. No passwords are stored.
• Local storage: Some data (custody schedules, settings, device token) is cached locally on your device using AsyncStorage for offline access.

7. Data Retention

• Your data is retained for as long as your family group is active in the App.
• Custody handover logs are retained for record-keeping purposes as long as your account exists.
• You may request deletion of all your data at any time (see Section 9).
• Upon deletion, all data associated with your family group is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is designed for use by parents (adults) to coordinate co-parenting. It is not intended for use by children under 16.

We store children's names and dates of birth only as voluntarily entered by their parents for custody management. We do not collect data directly from children, and children do not have their own accounts or access to the App.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data stored in the App at any time through the App itself
• Correct inaccurate data by editing it directly in the App
• Delete your data by requesting deletion of your family group — contact us at the email below
• Withdraw consent for location access or push notifications at any time through your device settings
• Export your data upon request

10. Your Rights Under the GDPR (European Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Legal basis for processing:

• Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): Processing custody data and device tokens to provide the core App functionality that both parents have chosen to use
• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): Location data collection and push notifications, which you can enable or disable at any time through your device settings

Additional rights:

• Right to data portability — You can request a machine-readable copy of your data
• Right to restriction of processing — You can request that we limit how we use your data
• Right to lodge a complaint — You have the right to file a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Germany, this is the relevant state data protection authority (Landesdatenschutzbeauftragte)

11. Tracking & Analytics

The App does not use any tracking technologies, advertising SDKs, or analytics services. We do not track your behavior, build user profiles, or share data with advertising networks.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
